Cool Morag's Art Dump

Hey there,

LoOng ago I had a commission and art thread here, and for a long time there hasn't been much to post. I've decided to muck out my sketchbooks and upload the newest pieces together with a few mentionable older ones

What lovely artwork you have here Moraq. It's quite evident that you've improved a great deal over the years. I'm especially fond of your newfound art noveau style. How do you get your lines so straight and even if you don't mind me asking? Could it be that dreadful pen tool that I am lightyears away from mastering in photoshop?!!

as you can see from the first couple of examples, my lineart used to be quite messy, but I came across this tip in a tutorial once: If you zoom in really far (until you can see the pixels) and then draw a line, it will look much smoother when zoomed out than drawn 'normally'. That works well if you work on high resolution but does require an underlying sketch, otherwise you'd not know where the heck you'd be drawing I don't use the pen tool myself - it's a hard, round brush with opacity and flow set to 100% (but pressure sensitivity active on the tablet for size). All geometric elements have been created with the use of vector tools (aka circle - stroke path etc.). One has to admit that it requires quite a bit of patience to do linearts like that, but for me it pays off as I prefer drawing to painting

Hope that helps

You've always been one of my favorite artists here on gwguru, and watching you on DA was well worth it

Hmph. It's not fair - as a guy, if I even draw a scantily clad elementalist (which is, let's face it, 99% of all elementalists), my friends accuse me of drawing soft porn. ^^

Anyways, some impressive art here. There's something...distinctive about it, that I can't put my finger on.

Zodiac and CotS - thanks, it's so nice to hear that people like the work I'm doing, being a really lazy once-in-a-while hobby artist who does have waaaay too little persistance and self control

@ Earth: I'm using Photoshop and a Graphic tablet (Wacom Graphire4, A5), together with a lot of references for anatomy I find that it takes a while to get used to working digitally from scratch (as opposed to a scanned hand drawing) but it gives you a lot of freedom for editing like with angles and line weights, especially if you're not a 100% sure how the drawing's gonna end up - a fault to which I readily admit. I improvise along the way

@ Bestian T: yeah I know what you mean (being a girl and all but still ) I sometimes get really annoyed about the fact that images which are - let's face it - rather innocent compared to stuff people see on TV every day have to be classified because some kiddo might get a glance of tiT%S. 0.ó anyway... just enjoy your artistic freedom!!

@ EmJey: Awww you're so sweet!

ok back to ninja mode until art trade with Starr has progressed.. or even started being worked on lol
